Candyman Special Guests

We are thrilled to announce the first of our special guests in Candyman and the whole Damn Swarm, a hybrid, international conference exploring the legacy of the iconic horror film Candyman (1992). Originally created and produced by Bernard Rose, Candyman saw its latest sequel in 2021 with a new iteration directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and DaCosta. The conference will take place online, and in person in Sheffield and California Riverside on 7-9 October 2022. You can find more information about the conference in our FAQ.

As part of our “In Conversation” interviews, Candyman: and the Whole Damn Swarm welcomes:

Bernard Rose

Candyman (1992) writer and director. In addition to writing and directing a number of films, including Traveling Light (2021) and Frankenstein (2015), Rose Is also a composer and performer whose work has been featured in films.

Tony Todd

Candyman (1992) lead actor. In addition to his unforgettable performance as Daniel Robitaille (aka Candyman) Todd continues to star in numerous horror films, as well as dramatic features and television series, including Traveling Light (2021) and Badland (2019).

Win Rosenfeld

Candyman (2021) co-writer and producer. The President of Monkeypaw Productions, Rosenfeld has also written for and produced other notable films and television series, such as BlacKKKlansman (2018) and The Twilight Zone (2020).

Sherwin Ovid

Candyman (2021) portrait artist. In addition to the superb and disturbing portraits featured in the recent film, Ovid has exhibited artwork in a number of galleries, including Unit 2 Art Collective, and Chicago Pop-Up Loop Alliance Gallery and Swimming Pool Project Space. He is also a Lecturer at Northwestern University
